Introduction
Ally ("we," "us," or "our") is a community chat platform operated by Ally Technologies Inc. We are incorporated in Alberta, Canada and are American owned and operated. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
By creating an account or using the Ally platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
This policy applies to all information collected through our website (allyapp.cc), the Ally web application, and any related services.
Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an Ally account, we collect:
- Email address
- Username and display name
- Password (stored as a salted cryptographic hash — we never store your plain-text password)
- Profile avatar, if you choose to upload one
We do not require government ID, phone number, date of birth, or any other identifying information to create an account.
Usage data
When you use Ally, we collect data about your activity on the platform:
- Messages sent to channels (content, timestamps, channel association)
- Servers you join, create, or leave
- Channels you interact with
- Features you use (themes selected, plugins installed)

We automatically collect certain technical data when you use the platform:
- IP addresses (used for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention)
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Connection timestamps and session duration
- Error logs and performance data
This data is used to operate and improve the service and is not sold or shared with advertisers.
How We Use Your Information
Provide the service
We use your information to operate the Ally platform — authenticate you, deliver messages, display your profile to other users, and enable all platform features.
Improve and personalize
Aggregated and anonymized usage data helps us understand how the platform is used, identify bugs, and build features people actually want. We do not use your message content to train machine learning models or for advertising profiling.
Communicate with you
We may use your email address to send important service notifications (security alerts, policy changes, account-related emails). We do not send marketing email without your explicit opt-in.
Ensure safety and compliance
We use technical data to detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, prevent spam and harassment, and comply with legal obligations. We take platform safety seriously and act on reports quickly.
Data Storage and Security
Ally's servers are located in North America. We implement industry-standard security practices:
- Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 encryption
- Data in transit is protected by SSL/TLS
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with per-account salts
- Access to production systems is restricted and logged
- Security vulnerabilities are patched promptly
No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@allyapp.cc.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We are committed to honoring these rights.
EU/EEA users have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Restriction: Request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances
- Objection: Object to certain types of data processing
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@allyapp.cc. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority if you believe we have not handled your data appropriately.
COPPA Compliance
Ally does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Our Terms of Service require users to be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to use the platform.
If you believe that a child under 13 has created an account or provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@allyapp.cc. We will take steps to delete the account and any associated data promptly.
Parents and guardians who have questions about our practices regarding children's information are encouraged to contact us.
Data Retention
We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time through the account settings or by contacting support.
Upon account deletion:
- Your profile, username, and personal information are deleted
- Messages you sent may be retained in a pseudonymized form to maintain conversation integrity (showing "[deleted user]") or may be fully deleted upon request
- Server and channel data you created may be transferred to other administrators
System logs and technical data are retained for 90 days for security and debugging purposes, after which they are automatically purged.
Third-Party Services
We use a limited set of third-party services to operate the platform:
Infrastructure providers
We use cloud hosting providers to run our servers and store data. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements and are contractually bound to protect your data.
Analytics
Where analytics are used, we rely on privacy-preserving tools that do not use third-party cookies, do not share data with advertisers, and collect only aggregate data. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking services that build behavioral profiles.
Payment processors
For paid features, payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We do not store full payment card details. Payment processors operate under their own privacy policies and security standards.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes — changes that significantly affect how we handle your data — we will provide at least 30 days notice via email or a prominent notice on the platform before the changes take effect.
Minor changes (clarifications, formatting, non-substantive updates) may be made without advance notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Your continued use of Ally after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
